The Ryder No. 60 1/2 Low Angle Block Plane has its blade seated at an angle of 13.5°, making it particularly useful for end grain work and equally as effective for general usage. The No. 60 1/2 is easy and comfortable to use for numerous trimming and fitting tasks. The main casting is ductile iron chosen for its high strength and impact resistance. It has an adjustable mouth for fine or coarser work. The plane features micro depth adjustment and lateral blade control to achieve the thinnest of shavings. Its lightweight and small size make it very manageable.
The bed angle (12°), bevel-up blade, depth adjustment and adjustable mouth are all features reminiscent of superior block planes. The No. 62 performs exceptionally well when used on a shooting board. The 12° bed combined with a bevel angle of 25° gives you an effective cutting angle of 37°.
Ryder planes are suitable for home or professional use on the bench or on site. The No. 7, the longest of the Ryder planes, its length enables it to level bumps and hollows and leave a true edge for accurate edge jointing of boards. The No. 7 is useful for the final flattening of a surface before using a smoothing plane. Ryder planes are fitted with a British made high quality blade. The blade is O1 high carbon steel, 3mm thick and hardened to HRC 61-64. It is capable of holding a very fine edge. It is flat, well finished and comes with a 25° bevel. These quality blades require only minimal preparation before use from new.
The No.7 Jointer plane is designed for stock removal and truing long edges or levelling wide boards. Made with a quality grey cast iron body for strength and stability with precision ground base and sides for flatness and squareness. Machined seatings eliminate movement and blade judder. A lever cap with a brass locking screw secures the blade assembly and enables easy release for sharpening. Wooden handles and guidance knobs maximise user comfort. A solid brass blade adjustment nut completes the appeal of these traditional tools. Blade will require honing before use.
The Rider 2-in-1 plane combines the functions of a bull-nose plane using the small nose section or a chisel plane with the nose piece removed. This plane has a dual purpose ( bull nose and chisel plane ), Micro depth control with a solid bronze lever, Ideal for cleaning rebates
The No. 80 cabinet scraper produces a clean even finish and is ideal when used to smooth difficult grain over large areas. Tightening the knob, behind the blade, causes a slight bow in the blade. This increases the bite and hence the thickness of shaving. The iron casting with a flat, machined base. The base measures 90mm x 68mm, the blade is 70mm wide.
Ryder's spokeshaves are in the traditional style, 250mm wide with a fully adjustable blade. The spokeshave body is ductile cast iron, with a tough black enamel finish. The well-rounded handles and thumb rests offer comfort and control when cutting. The curved sole spokeshave allows you to shape concave surfaces.
