The mass of the machine dampens much of the vibration and this, together with a 3 knife cutter block spinning at 4,000rpm, results in a very clean finish on the workpiece. The infeed and outfeed rollers can be deactivated when surfacing-resulting in less wear and more power to the cutterhead. The aluminium tilting fence offer exceptional accuracy and stability when planing the edge of timber and can be set to any angle from 45⁰- 90⁰.
The built-in dust extraction hood is positioned underneath the top table when surfacing and is swung up when thicknessing. Both of the tables must be tilted out of the way when thicknessing. The 3 knives in the cutter block can be is set using the excellent gauge supplied, or it can be done with any straight piece of wood using the traditional drag method with the back table as reference. Both tables are independently adjustable and electrical safety switches prevent accidental starting when the cutter head is exposed.
The ticknessing table has a locking lever that will keep it secure on any height when thicknessing. The machine is also fitted with anti-kickback fingers when in hicknessing mode. Tip: Apply wax to the tables on a regular basis. This is especially important when thicknessing timber. It allows the wood to glide through the planer without sticking to the bottom surface. Any good quality furniture wax will do.
