Liberon Gilt Cream Chantilly

Gilt Cream is an easy-to-apply gilt finish used to retouch damaged gilding or to gild new surfaces. Available in a range of intermixable colours, it is suitable for restoring old gilding work and for giving a gilt finish to new surfaces.

Fontenay Base is ideal for sealing surfaces, and providing a stable working base and undertone prior to gilding. Ideal for creating the ‘distressed’ look on a new frame, it helps to helps ensure even colours, and to warm up gold metallic tones. It is suitable for use on wood or plaster.

Being water based, they afford you a longer working time than alcohol based stains and dyes. They sink deeply into the wood and preserve the appearance of the figure in the wood, releasing the hidden subtleties and enhancing chatoyance. Apply more than one coat of dye to build up sumptuous depth of colour and atmosphere, and add a black or earth undercoat for an even more dramatic effect. For the adventurous colourist, Intrinsic Colours can be mixed together to create even more shades or thinned with water for a lighter shade.
